Call for Papers: British Idealism and New Liberalism Annual Conference 2020

Please send your paper title and abstract by 15 November 2020.

This is the first call for papers for this year’s British idealism, New Liberalism and Michael Oakeshott conference. It will take place virtually. So if you can’t usually make it to Hull or Gregynog, now is your chance!

The conference will be held on Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 December 2020. Papers will be scheduled to accommodate different time zones.

Please note that papers engaging with Jerry Gaus’ (1952-2020) work on the British idealists are strongly encouraged.

We are now inviting proposals for 20-minute papers, consisting of:

  • Your name:
  • Your institutional affiliation (if you have one):
  • Paper title:
  • Paper abstract
    • 200 to 500 words
    • Please keep to the limit: footnotes or bibliography should not be provided.
  • The online conferencing platforms that you can use (MS Teams, Zoom, Skype, Skype for Business, etc):

Please email your details to Colin Tyler.

We would be grateful to receive proposals at your earliest convenience, but no later than 15 NOVEMBER 2020.

The University of Hull

The conference is being organized jointly by the Centre for Idealism and the New Liberalism at Hull, and the UK PSA British Idealism Specialist Group.

PS. While there will not be an annual dinner this year (Covid-19), delegates are of course strongly encouraged to wear the traditional awful jumpers, especially when giving your papers.
